Who we are
Equity Resources Foundation (ERF) is a non-profit organization working on natural resources governance with a focus on the extractive sector. We encourage the mining community and other actors to adopt best practices while improving access to markets and finance, promoting resource governance, and transparency, and enabling responsible mining operations. Mercury remains a major problem in small-scale gold mining and is one of the major causes of pollution and environmental problems related to small-scale gold mining operations.
ERF strives to provide the mining community with the tools they need to manage the negative impacts of ASM mining while making ASM mining safer, less harmful to the environment, and more efficient. We provide ASM workers with the tools they need to improve their living conditions and take care of soil, forests, and water resources. Our capacity-building efforts focus on a human rights-based approach to natural resources governance with a particular focus on United Nations business and human rights principles
