WHAT WE DO
Working with mining communities and promoting governance for a sustainable extractive sector through the promotion of social economic aspects such as ASM sector organizational development, gender equity, youth and child protection, local stakeholder dialogue, market access, profitability, and access to mining rights and human rights. Improving environmental compliance by conserving the ecosystem and responsibly using toxic substances such as mercury and cyanide in gold processing, and ultimately fostering community engagement and good practices between communities and mining entities. All of this seeks to enhance the social and economic well-being of mining communities, support local and national economic growth, and mitigate adverse environmental impacts.
Gender Equality
& Youth Empowerment
Gender and women's issues have long been an issue in Tanzania's extractive industry. Due to cultural norms, preconceptions, and discriminatory practices, women are often underrepresented.

This program focuses on disclosures related to climate change made by corporate actors in the extractive sector, including initiatives to get communities and civil society organizations to reach out to extractive companies, including.
Business
& Human Rights
This program focuses on Business and human rights issues involving corporate actors in the extractive sector. We use human-rights-centred approaches to address extractive sector challenges encompassing climate.
About Us
Equity Resources Foundations (ERF) is a non-profit organisation working on natural resources governance with a focus on the extractive sector.
We encourage the mining community and other actors to adopt best practices while improving access to markets and finance, promoting resource governance, and transparency, and enabling responsible mining operations.
Mercury remains a major problem in small-scale gold mining and is one of the major causes of pollution and environmental problems related to small-scale gold mining operations.
Equity Resource Foundation (ERF) is a non-profit organisation based in Arusha, Tanzania.
